Acrylic

Polymethylmethacrylate or Polymethyl methacrylate is the chemical name of a transparent thermoplastic that is commonly manufactured into sheets of various dimensions and thicknesses.
For the chemists out there, the full chemical name is:

poly(methyl 2-methylpropenoate)
It is also referred to as:

  • PMMA (PolyMethlMethAcrylate)
  • acrylic.

Because of its similarity to glass, acrylic is commonly called acrylic glass.
